Semiotics is a method that was formed in the continuation of philosophical wisdom in the West, this method communicates with its audience in an intangible but coherent way. Semiotics is a process that acquires its identity based on the text and is a means of communication between the architecture and the audience. According to Jacobsen, language represents signs. He introduces his theory of the communication with six functions. Here 6 examples of the architecture can be considered equivalent to them. The purpose of this study is to re-read a part of the inscription of the "Qalam-farsa mansion" in Shiraz, which is examined from the perspective of Jacobsen' communication theory. This research seeks to answer two questions: How can an inscription related to the architectural space be read by emphasizing Jacobsen's theory of communication? And why should these linguistic functions be re-read in a work? To answer these questions, first of all, by referring to library texts and articles, the view based on Jacobsen's theory of the linguistics is explained and then by emphasizing semiotics from the perspective of the structuralists and Jacobsen's thought, the theoretical foundations of the research are explained and refined. In the first part of the research, words and texts are described, and then, this theory is adapted to a part of the inscription of the "Qalam-Farsa mansion". The results of this study indicate that sometimes several functions can be observed in one work, while one of them appears more pronounced than the others.
