نشانگرهای گفتمان در زبان فارسی و انگلیسی

Discourse markers are related chain elements which classify the units of speech. These elements do not occur just in one specific language. Discourse markers with different applications are helpful to maintain the coherence of utterances. If they are omitted and not substituted by the appropriate phrase, conveying the message will be disordered. Therefore, the discourse markers are necessary in language and the speakers are unknownly aware of them. This research aims at 
introducing, defining and classifying different kinds of discourse markers, and their applications in Persian and English languages. The most important discourse markers in English are as follows: oh, I see,mhm, right, well… and in Persian are as follows: xob, ?han, rasti…. The most important applications of discourse markers are as follows: topic shift, clarification, showing the emotional status, prompting, stimulation to continue the speech, moving out of closing the speech and so on.
