Reading is one of the human requirements is to be informed about the thoughts of other people, but all of the people do not have this skill equally. A fraction of the society involves people which have learning disabilities. Dyslexia is the most common learning disabilities. The importance of the reading and writing skills as well as the high number of dyslexic children has drawn the attention of many investigators. In this study, we compared syntactic comprehension of 16 Persian speaking children with and 32 normal children (age-matched) in second grade of primary school by standard syntax comprehension test. According to the findings of this descriptive-analytical study, there was meaningful difference between the two groups in “syntactic comprehension scores”, there was a significant difference in complex syntactic constructions like relative clauses, passive voice, coordination phrases, noun phrases with preposition and all kinds of comparative and superlative adjectives between dyslexic and normal children. These findings while confirming the defect in the syntax, showed that it is probably part of the problems of dyslexic children in understanding the text was related to their problems in understanding the syntax, so it is necessary to assess their syntactic abilities and develop therapeutic protocols about syntactically complex constructs.
