Autism is one of the developmental disorders of the language that is most often diagnosed with a pragmatic impairment. Of course, due to the difficulty of communicating with children with autism, their linguistic ability has been less well-documented. It is, however, necessary to have full language profiles of children with autism’s linguistic abilities to diagnose and treat. The purpose of this study is to provide a complete profile of their linguistic abilities by using standard language test. 10 children (aged 6 to 10-year-old) with high-functional autism and 10 normal children (age-matched) participated in this study. Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS) and Test of Language Development (TOLD) were used for diagnosing children with autism and assessing their linguistic profile. Descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov Smirnov test and independent t-test were used to describe and analyze the data. Based on the results of the recording and also the analysis of the responses of the subjects, there was a significant difference between the children with autism and their peers in all the sub-tests of language test (p <0.05). But in "picture vocabulary" and "sentence imitation" subtests, the amount of this difference was less than other sub-tests, and in comparing the composite scores, while the difference in the major dimensions of language was significant, the least difference was in the composite score of speaking. Therefore, it can be concluded that these children have more problems in grammar score and its related subtest than the other composite scores, Therefore these components need more analyses and serious treatments.
