استعاره از دیدگاه شیخ عبدالقاهر جرجانی

The purpose of this paper is to study the viewpoints and opinions of Sheikh Abd-al-Qaher Jorjani , one of the most illustrated muslim thoughtfuls, about language and linguistics. Just as declared in muslim works about rhetoric and literal criticism, Jorjani (d.1081A.D.,471A.H.) has always been recognized as one of the greatest criticizers of Arab literature. In this paper, we'll try to mention his ideas about language, specifically about metaphor. Jorjani has divided metaphor into two categories: advantageous and disadvantageous metaphor. He never highlights disadvantageous metaphor and doesn't call it metaphor at all. But in an advantageous metaphor, the meaning is also understood beside the metaphor term. To summarize, in studying eloquence Jorjani pays much more attention to meaning. He always prefers meaning to grammatical form of a language and believes that in meaning reinforcement the quality of word combination has a lot of importance.
