Agrammatism is a characteristic of non-fluent aphasia, a case of a more general linguistic impairment known as Broca's aphasia. It is manifested by the presence of ungrammatical utterances in the speech of patients with a particular brain damage as well as in abnormal (`ungrammatical') comprehension of certain constructions. The present article focuses primarily on the evolutionary movement of agrammatism theories from beginning till now. Also it will demonstrate that why these theories had been changed by passing of time. Which factors have been influential on their evolution? The present study is a review article. It has been attempted that the agrammatism theories to be examined based on linguistic comprehension and production approaches. Result of the present study showed there is no doubt that most researchers have been described the complete characteristic of anagrammatism in all its aspects. But it seems that there is no comprehensive theory that can explain and describe the complexity of agrammatic symptoms completely.
