Mādayān ī Hazār Dādestān or the Book of Thousand Judgments, is a Sasanian law-book. It is believed to be composed at the dawn of Sasanian era, i.e. the early 7th century A.D. Legal issues that have been discussed in this book such as slavery, warranty, partnership,marriage,divorce, inheritance, rent and etc. This article, studies the juridical law related to rent and attempts to answer, what was its rules in Sassanid era. In 5 paragraphs of mādayān has been mentioned to rent. Although we can not attain completed laws concerning with rent with this 5 paragraphs, but attain remarkable results about laws rent in Sasanian era. According to this 5 paragraphs a contract was concluded between the two sides, which based on was giving something from the landlord to the tenant. Rent, it seems, was a quarter of the value of theleased property and was paid on an annual basis. The ground or anything else was leased for certain period and tenant could be one or more people. The renter must pay all rental according to contract.
