Cognitive linguistics is one the most common approaches to study of language that gives a central place to the meaning. The most recent semantic theory in this line is “Lexical Concepts and Cognitive Models theory (LCCM) that has been proposed by Evans (2006, 2007, 2009a, 2009b, 2010a, 2010b, 2013, 2015). This theory suggests a novel framework for understanding the process of meaning-construction and semantic representation. In the present research, we explore this theory and its fundamental concepts and analyze their various aspects. We also discuss some applications of this theory for explaining problems popular in cognitive linguistics (e.g. metaphor, metonymy, and polysemy). Finally, we discuss some criticisms of the theory.
