Various components create internal and external coherence of speech and writing, and one of these components is discourse markers. even though, discourse markers cause communication and carry out different parts of level of discourse, but to the propositional meaning of the sentence and syntactic structure are not included, and the lack of their use in the text causes the formation of sentences discrete and incoherent and sometimes vague and unintelligible. Since in many cases, we see errors in the use of these elements in linguistic application, therefore, this research by examining these discourse markers in the interactions of language learners and investigating the effect of the gender variable on the use of these verbal elements, will answer these questions, which of the discourse markers do have problems with? What is the pattern of using discourse markers? And what is the role of gender in the use of discourse markers, and will take an effective step towards reducing such errors. In order to achieve this purpose, the present study analyzed discourse markers in about 300 examples of language learners' interactions with a descriptive method and it was concluded that they do not act in the same way in using markers and they differ from each other. Discourse markers and their method of use related, and male and female language learners have had problems in using compound markers and this problem is related to misrecognition of markers. The pattern of using discourse markers in the language interaction of Persian learners is not the same.
