Cognitive Linguistics from a Semantic Perspective

Abstract
Within the recent two decades Cognitive Linguistics has been propounded in contrast to the other linguistic approaches- Formal and Functional- with a great capacity in the fields of: linguistic studies, conceptual structures, human cognition, and meaning constructions. This contribution is about to analyze the central characteristics of the cognitive approach from a semantic perspective, together with its theoretical cornerstones. On this basis, the links that hold among the basic concepts of the theoretical framework of Cognitive Linguistics are presented to help achieving the cognitive explanations of linguistic expressions and figuring out the interaction among language and cognition, in turn.
