The Effect of Gender on the Degree of Usage of Active and Passive Constructions in Ardalani(Sanandaji), Ilami and Abdanani Dialects of Kurdish Language

Abstract
This article tries to study the effect of gender on the degree of usage of active and passive constructions in Ardalani(Sanandaji), Ilami and Abdanani dialects of Kurdish language. The Statistical population consists of 90 male and female speakers of the mentioned dialects (45 males and 45 females) which were chosen randomly. In order to collect the data, questionnaires were used. While the Ilami ,Sanandaji and  Abdanani societies are rather traditional and there are obvious  social diversities between male and female in these societies, the degree of usage of active and passive construction in male and female population was not different significantly. As Wardhaugh (2006) predicts there must be significant differences between male and female in respect to the use of active and passive construction, but our results did not approve Wardhaugh’s prediction and there was not such a significant difference between genders.
