In the present paper the effective factors in interpreting verbal (im)politeness have been investigated. By changing the attitudes of researchers on (Im)politness from classic approach to the post modern one, the path of theorizing has also changed. All theorists following post modern approach attempt to construct a model of politeness which can be used to predict when polite behaviour can be expected or to explain post-factum why it has been produced and towards the need to pay closer attention to how participants in social interaction perceive politeness. For these reasons, the influential factors in the interpretation of (Im)politeness has been more considered and their importance in pragmatic studies has been revealed. This paper has investigated these factors, i.e. context, social norms, emotions, morality and intentionality, in detail. Finally, the sociocognitive schema of impolitness proposed by Culpeper (2011)has been introduced.
